A Specimen Specific Certificate {SSC} - is only issued for specimens which have been micro-chipped and can be passed on to any new owner without having to change any details in box 1. In fact APHA will NOT change any certificates with new owners details, the original breeder or person who had it micro-chipped first will remain on the certificate for life.
All species that require micro-chipping are chipped by Zoological International before they are distributed.
It’s easy to tell if the certificate is a SSC because it will only show the name and ID number in box 1.

If the name and full address appears in box 1, then it is a Transaction Specific Certificate {TSC}, which means the specimen has not been micro-chipped and each time the specimen is sold only a photo copy of the certificate is passed on. The original is sent back to APHA and the new owner has to apply for the new certificate, which currently costs £31.
All Annex A species under 100mm have to be sold with a Transaction Certificate.
The TSC Certificate will not be passed on so, in order to obtain one, you will have to apply to APHA for the cost of £31.
*For Retailers only This certificate is only valid for one transaction – the one from your supplier to you - and must have their name in box one. It is law that you must make an application to APHA to change the certificate into your name before you can offer it for sale again.
It is also important to know that you are not entitled to sell or offer for sale any specimen until you have had the new certificate/s issued in your name. You should also keep photo copies of the application/s for certificate/s in case of inspection whilst your application is being dealt with.
